The humanities team advocate the importance of studying geography, history and religious studies to ensure students develop knowledge, understanding and skills to engage in debate and discussion about life in our modern society.
Our curriculum, is designed to enable students to study different aspects of the past as well as the current day, so they can engage with:
- key issues such as conflict, climate change and moral dilemmas,
- understand what drives change,
- and how the past influences the present.
During KS3 students receive three double lessons a week in humanities which are split evenly across geography, history and religious students. The humanities team adopts a collaborative approach, subject specialists effectively share resources and approaches to promote student engagement and to ensure consistency across teaching groups.
A wide range of trips and visits are provided by the humanities team which extend and support the curriculum whilst proving interesting experiences for both students and staff.
