German Exchange

During the last week of June, we welcomed 31 German exchange students from the Alfred-Amann-Gymnasium School in Bönnigheim. They arrived in the late afternoon and were paired up with their hosts for their stay. The following day we brought our exchange partners with us to lessons until 11:15am. We then left school and went to the Warner Bros. Harry Potter Studio Tour. This was a brilliant day and the German students really enjoyed experiencing the tale behind this very British story. On Wednesday, the German students joined us for our usual lessons, which also meant they got to experience electives. Thursday was Sports day – some of the Catmose and German students took part in morning athletics, whereas others attended lessons as usual. Our German friends could participate in sports day if they liked and those who took part did very well for their teams. On Friday, we went on another trip, this time to Warwick castle, where we took part in a workshop on battle tactics and skills. We spent the rest of the day exploring the castle and its grounds. Some people also got to experience the dungeons and those who did said that it was extremely scary! Some of us definitely screamed more than others!

During the weekend, everyone did their own thing. Some went camping, some to the beach and others to a theme park, however, as the weather was perfect, a large number of us went to the Rutland Water Aqua Park. This was a great opportunity for them to see a fantastic local attraction!

On Monday, the Germans sadly had to leave. We hope they had a good time, as for many of them it was their first time in England. After they had left, they spent a night in London, how lucky!

Overall, we all had a great time and can’t wait to see each other again next October.
