Future Chef 2023

Catmose hosted the school stages of the Future Chef 2023 competition. Ten students took part, each chopping, frying and baking their way for a chance to represent the College in the 2023 national Future Chef finals.
The challenge this year was to prepare, cook and present a hot main course for two people with a budget of £5, in under an hour.
We were delighted to be able to welcome back Nigel Fish (Head Chef, Wisteria Hotel) and Kristy Carey (Owner, Wisteria Hotel, Oakham) to join us in judging the competition. All students performed outstandingly well on the day and were true ambassadors for the College.
After a phenomenally close fought competition, the joint winners were Year 8 student Lola-Rose with her delicious curry dish, onion bhajees and naan bread and Annabella in Year 10 who served up a tasty chicken and mushroom pie with steamed broccoli.
The runner up accolades were awarded to Francesca and Sydney who treated the judges to a pesto pasta and chicken kebab dish.
Lola-Rose and Annabella now head to Loughborough College where the next round of the competition takes place. The next challenge the students face is to prepare, cook and present a main course and dessert within a budget of £7.
Well done to all the students who took part.
