Expansion Plan Approved

Following a consultation with the local community we are delighted to have received formal approval to expand Catmose College to increase capacity to admit an additional 30 students into Year 7, subject to planning permission being obtained.

This expansion will create an opportunity to build new facilities, offer additional support and a broader curriculum for all our students. The first phase of the expansion project is well under way with the old Brightways building being converted into five new classrooms, office space, toilets and lockers to support the expanded Modern Foreign Languages provision. By moving the Modern Foreign Languages, we will be able to further expand our Client Servcies provision (student welfare and behavioural support team) to offer a broader range of pastoral and welfare support to our students.

The second phase of the project will involve the construction of a new building behind the existing sports centre which will include new science laboratories, an ICT suite and additional design technology and food classrooms.

In partnership with Rutland County Council we plan to offer an additional 30 places per year starting with our first increased intake in September 2022 when we plan to admit 240 students rather than the usual 210 into Year 7. The Local Authority projections show that this growth is needed to meet local need. We do not plan to change our admissions criteria or where we recruit students from.

The College’s ethos is centred on academic excellence because of high-quality teaching completmented by a very borad range of extra-curricular offers in the arts, performance, music and sport. With additional students joining us each year in Year 7, the range of both academic courses and extra-curricular opportunities will broaden further.
