Stages System

Where students give a cause for concern in any subject area and accrue negative behaviour entries, a staged system is used to address their needs.

Stage 1 Students at this stage are monitored by their Form Tutor, typically on a lesson-by-lesson report. The report will allow the member of staff to show behavioural progress by indicating whether the student is ranked as Green, Amber or Red for the Routines for Learning and prep in every lesson. The report will provide clarity to students and parents as to the progress the student is making.

Stage 2 – Students who accrue negative behavioural entries in a range of subjects will be placed on this stage and allocated a keyworker within the Client Services team. Students will be monitored by a daily report and liaise with their keyworker each day.

Stage 3 – Following a fixed-term exclusion, students will be placed on this stage. Further support will be offered in collaboration with external agencies.

Stage 4 – Consideration of permanent exclusion – this is only when the College has explored and exhausted all forms of support to the child.

Stage 5 – Permanent exclusion by the Principal.

Parental Engagement

Parental engagement is important for all students, but critical for those who are under the care of the Pastoral team. We value the positive relationships we have with parents; furthermore parents can aid the support of their child in the following ways:

  • Ensuring that your child attends College regularly and on time.
  • Accessing wider opportunities for your child, including trips, visits and extra-curricular activities.
  • Attending meetings with College staff where required.
