What a great end to the year that was…
Prom 2023
As we said our final goodbyes to our 2018-2023 Year 11’s, it was time for them to celebrate. The Year 11 Prom took place on Thursday 29 June, at Brooksby Hall, a renowned wedding venue that was extravagantly decorated to fit the theme, Las Vegas/Casino. Over the course of the evening, from 7pm-10pm, there was a wide range of dancing, a photo booth, sweet cart and students exploring the gardens in the historic site. Wishing you all the best of luck as you transition into the next stage of your lives.

Sports Day 2023
Congratulations to Burley gaining a whopping 1099 points for winning this year’s sports day. All students did exceptionally well with the overall highlight being the house tug of war. The sport department worked extremely hard putting on a whopping 28 different events throughout the day. Students also had the option of taking on the gruelling task of being a part of our media team or working with Mr Jackson and other members of IT to keep the students updated and the whole day running smoothly.
Once again congratulations Burley and well done to all involved.

Year 7 Frozen Performance
A huge highlight of the year sitting alongside the school musical is the Year 7 Junior musical made up of a huge array of big musical numbers worked on throughout the year during Year 7 drama classes. The whole year went to watch a performance of Frozen the Musical in December and worked on their final performance in terms 5 & 6. They performed to the current Year 8s during the school day and their main performance took place on Thursday 6 July to their family and friends. Thank you to everyone who helped bring the musical to life, including costumes and props.
Wimbledon Trip
On the 11 and 12 of July, a group of Year 9s and 10s travelled to Wimbledon to watch the Tennis Championships on Court 2. Students travelled down on Tuesday to Wimbledon to watch the intense matches, stayed overnight then it was followed with sightseeing in Central London before heading back to Oakham.
Year 6 Transition Day
Most students in College remember the first time they stepped foot in the school, or their first lesson or even just the first time it was brought up by your parents in conversation. For the new Year 7’s of 2023 & 2024 these memories will just start being made. On Tuesday 4 July, a transition day took place to allow the current Year 6’s to become more familiar with the school and with College life. They will also be watching their first few Catmose drama performances when they arrive as well as experiencing sport at Catmose. In the first term, the new students will be very shy, just like all of us were. So, remember to help them out wherever possible.
Student Achievement
Nanditha Raghavan, Year 10, achieved a Distinction in her Grade 8 Piano. Due to how rare this achievement is across the country; she was commended a gold performing arts badge. Congratulations Nanditha.
