The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Annual Presentation Evening

On Wednesday 13 February, Catmose College and Harington School celebrated the outstanding achievements of 80 students gaining Bronze, Silver and Gold levels at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Presentation Evening. The awards can take 6 – 12 months to achieve and this requires dedication and commitment in up to five different areas, as well as undertaking a shared activity in a residential setting away from home.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a fantastic programme that has given our students the opportunity to volunteer and give back over 4836 hours to the local community, increase their fitness, develop their practical and social skills and take part in expeditions. It is important to recognise the achievements that each of our students have made. They have worked extremely hard and given up lots of their own time in addition to their normal school work over the last 12 months in order to complete their activities.  Students have gained valuable experiences from volunteering within our local community.  Activities such as working with the environment and animals, volunteering in charity shops, assisting in schools, helping with Brownies, Cubs, Scouts and Guides, assisting the elderly and working in groups to raise money for charities are just some of the projects our students have completed.

Students have succeeded in meeting the challenge.  Throughout their DofE journey we have watched their characters and resilience flourish, which is as crucial to their future success as academic achievement, preparing them for long-lasting life skills.

Congratulations and well done to everyone who achieved their award.
