Catmose College is an oversubscribed secondary academy school on Huntsmans Drive in Oakham, Rutland. The majority of students are drawn from the county town of Oakham and surrounding villages, although many are attracted from a wider area including Leicestershire and Melton through parental choice.

The College is one of the highest achieving in Rutland and Leicestershire. Our Ofsted report in February 2012 rated the College ‘Outstanding’ in all categories. We offer a broad range of experiences beyond the classroom to build independence, resilience and leadership skills that are critical for success in adult life. More details on the College can be found via the menu above or on the DfE website.

Our Values and Ethos

We believe that great schools are not made by the buildings they occupy, but by the people who work within them. We are proud at Catmose College to have both committed staff and talented, hardworking students whose contributions make our College truly exceptional. Our approach to how we work with our students is detailed within our Behaviour Management Policy.

Our primary aim is to encourage each student to become a mature, independently minded individual who has the necessary skills and knowledge to be of value to themselves and society. We know that every student is talented, so our role as educators is to ensure these talents are fully realised. To achieve this, we have high expectations of every student, emphasising the importance of hard work and doing one’s best in every circumstance. This ethos and our values are further elaborated on in the prospectus below. Our Transformation Plan is a detailed development plan which outlines in greater detail our ethos and values alongside our improvement plan to continually improve the service we offer our community.

Catmose College students are encouraged to work hard, take responsibility for their own learning and make the most of every opportunity that our highly skilled staff are able to offer. This occurs within our calm and supportive environment, based on mutual respect and an expectation of considerate behaviour towards others.

Catmose College is a school where the staff will get to know your child as an individual, with their own talents and needs. We will have high expectations of them but will do everything that we can to support them to do well, both in lessons and in developing as an all-round person.

Video Tour

The following video tour was filmed and directed by a group of Year nine students. It provides an excellent overview of our building but is, of course, no substitute for a tour of our award winning facilities. If you would like to see the building in person, please contact us.
