Artist Workshop

Students in Year 9 recently attended a workshop with visiting artist Sue Graham.
Sue Graham is a local artist who specialises in painting and printing. She paints in oil en plein aire mainly in Norfolk and Cornwall. She is a member of the Leicester Society of Artists and has taught in FE colleges and is currently teaching in adult education. The workshop focussed on Mono printing, a painterly method of printmaking. This method produces a printed painting with no two images being alike but they can be similar.
The students explored two variations of mono printing; the subtractive method and additive method. They also experimented with a variety of mark making tools including twigs, cotton buds and cocktail sticks. The images show the variety of textures created in the forming of their image, based on landscape. This artwork supports the work students are doing for their Arts Award qualification and may be developed further in their GCSE Art and Design coursework in Years 10 & 11.
