Many Catmose students who choose to study A-levels attend Harington School http://www.haringtonschool.com/
Some students study at other local colleges or sixth forms and some students find apprenticeships. Students can compare the performance of local colleges and sixth forms using the government comparison website https://www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/find-a-school-in-england
Students can access post 16 information and guidance and search for local courses using UCAS progress http://www.ucas.com/progress
Students are strongly encouraged to attend open days, talk to subject teachers and to find out the exam success and student progression for the individual courses. Students should be sceptical of providers who simply publish a pass rate as this is nationally very high. It would be more helpful to examine the government comparison website https://www.compare-school-performance.service.gov.uk/find-a-school-in-england which also gives the percentage of students achieving higher grades.
Individual sixth forms and colleges have their own closing date for applications. There is no maximum number of places the student may apply to and the colleges/sixth forms do not share information about applications. Students are usually encouraged to apply for three courses; one course should have lower entry requirements in case students don’t manage to obtain their predicted grades. Tutors can help students with their supporting statements or to prepare for interviews when required.
