La Rochelle Trip

A group of Year 8 students travelled to La Rochelle from 1 – 4 March. While we were there, we had many great experiences that I think will stay with everyone as incredible memories.

When we arrived on the Friday, we explored our surroundings and settled into our hostel –L’ Auberge de Jeunesse. On our second day we went to see a lighthouse and sampled the seaside, chips and crepes. As well as going to see the lighthouse we also visited a honey farm where we learnt about different types of bees and tried all of the different types of honey. Also, during our visit to La Rochelle, we were given some free time and had the opportunity to take in all of our beautiful surroundings, as well as buying souvenirs for our family and friends.

We also went on a boat trip to Fort Boyard, it was a little choppy! On Sunday we all had so much fun as we visited the market and were told to go and buy lunch, we all went our different ways to experience French life and practice our French.

During our trip we did not only visit many places, but we also were able to make so many friends. On our last day we visited a French school to meet our pen pals for the first time to get to know them. We attended some lessons, which was really interesting as they are so different to ours. Overall, going to France, as many of us would agree, had to be one of the best experiences of our lives.
