German Exchange 2019

On Wednesday evening we left England and travelled to Stuttgart, Germany. We drove to school in Bonnigheim and met with our exchange partners and were welcomed into their homes. My exchange partner lived in Erligheim which is a village about 10 minutes away from the school. During the week we participated in German lessons which gave us an insight to what the German schooling system is like and how it is different to English schools. We also went on many fun school trips such as baumwipfelpfad saarschleife (a treetop walk in the black forest with an amazing view tower and slide), Heidelberg (a historic town with a massive wine barrel built in 1751) and the Mercedes Benz museum which contained more than 160 vehicles of all types. During the weekend my exchange student took us to tripsdrill which is a huge theme park where we met up with a few other English and German students. We stayed there all day and even thought I only went on the small rides I still had fun with some of my new friends. On the Sunday my exchange and I went to a pumpkin harvest festival and it was very fun. On Wednesday we said our goodbyes and thanked the German school for hosting us. We left Germany on Wednesday evening and arrived back in England early on Thursday morning.

Overall I enjoyed my time in Germany and I learnt a lot about German culture and lots of German phrases. I also made lots of friends and I would like to do it again one day.
